Hey My Lovelies

I know I have been MIA, looking for work and my part time job I have been hemmed up.

Any who…. my wedding madness….

As many of yall know I am getting hitched…. and we are getting married where we met at Tuskegee University.

Skegee had a Hotel and Conference Center on campus and that is where the big event will happen.  Or at least that is the plan today lol

Here are a few outside shots of the Kellogg Conference Center tu1

I am excited to get married at Skegee, it was some of the best times in my life and we met there.  I wish the University didn’t have the calendar taken up so I could get the date I wanted but oh well you win some you loose some lol

Now on to the menu since my MOH has told me I can’t have fried chicken… *which is the biz at the TUCC* I am a bit dis hearten as to what we should serve lol.

So I have one check down our venue…. now for the 20 million other things you have to do for a wedding….

Polyvore Any One?

If you are like me you have noticed these “outfit” thumbnails floating around Facebook , Twitter, Instagram and Pintrest. And if you are like me you have wondered where the hell did they find these…. AH HA I found out POLYVORE *click me*

Now if you are like me, you will be hooked.  I am like a kid in the candy store.  It is a great inspiration and sewing ideas.

The pic above is my latest one I did.  I love Polyvore because you can not only add the dress, pants, top etc but you can add accessories, makeup, and backgrounds… You can keep this on pintrest and if the outfit is out of your price range you can find dupe for it…. Its a great win win…Wish I had thought of this idea…

So who out there is hooked on Polyvore?  If not that site which one do you like to use for your inspirations?

Lets see your images you have come up with….

Congrats to the Ravens

Super Bowl Champs

Unless you have lived under a rock for the past 2 weeks , you know about the The Baltimore Ravens beating the San Francisco 49ners in New Orleans this past Sunday

Being a Bears Fan… I really had no dog in this fight… I am happy that Baltimore won…. I would have been happy if the 49ners had won *their head coach is a former Bear*

Baltimore showed up and showed out for the Ravens Parade yesterday…. when I got off the train for work here were the lines to get tickets to ride the train

I dont know if I love the Bears that much lol…. it was estimated 250K packed into M&T Bank Stadium to show their love to their beloved team…

Here are a few shots…. yall just gotta love Ray Ray….

No Hate

I’M DONE  Woohoo

Yes, I finished my LBD… Here are a few pics…

lbd-3 lbd-1 lbd-2

Here are a few shots of the dress and jacket.  I used matte jersey black knit material, and Asian inspired satin brocade.

I used Butterick pattern B5309 the pattern is OOP 😦 but I have had it for years.

B5309 It says its easy… yes the dress was easy, but the jacket gave me the blues with the collar…. but I did my best Tim Gunn….”Make it Work”

I am  pleased with my overall results and look forward to wearing this out with Mista Man….

What do you Divas think?

Up Date to the LBD Sew-A-Long

LBD Sew-A-Long

I got a bit done today, even though all I wanted to do was sleep.  I am almost done with the jacket I need to add some kind of closure piece, I am debating on a black frog or a snap….humm maybe a ribbon.. who knows

I also started the dress the actual LBD of the sew-a-long.  I have it completed except for hemming it.  Now the LBD is a bit snug but that’s ok *it has to be ok because I am not about to let it out*  I will put on my body magic and call it a day lol

I can’t wait to put the pieces together with the jewelry I made.

I am actually a little excited of how all of this will come together.

You know I am not big on Challenges or going with the flow… sue me its the Gemini in me.  Any who I accepted to do a LBD *Little Black Dress* Challenge/Sew-A-Long for my sewing FB group….

I am the queen of prints… so the fact that I have enough solid black fabric to make a dress is shocking to me lol…

But you know me I am going to throw some color in there some where….. just where…. humm only I know lol….

We have to be done by February 8, 2013 but here are a couple of teaser shots of what I may or may not be making…

At the start of 2013 Zoya did another promotion of  three free polish, you only have to pay for shipping.

So I got some spring time colors, this is the 2nd time I got this promotion.  The first time was a few years ago I got these 3 polishes zoya1 I love these Zoya polishes, they have great colors and they last a long time, there is nothing I hate more than a great fab color on my hands or feet and 2 days later it chips, even with a top coat.  Zoya is one of my go to polishes up there with OPI.  Most of their polishes are $8 a bottle.

Most of the time my nails are clear with no polish but I get wild on my toes, especially in the summer months for sandal weather.

If you are interested in any of these polishes or Zoya please see their website.

Did any one else get some of the free polishes?

Let us see…. I will swatch these on my hands later this week….

Still Bundle Up…..

Infinity Scarf

Well since my wish of Spring to magically appear did not happen I am breaking out with my Infinity scarf today.

I love these scarves.  This is the first one I crocheted back in 2011, I am still amazed at how warm this scarf is… Well I liked it so much that I made myself 2 more  an all white one to wear to my OES meetings and a cream one that is shorter in length but it is wider.

400330_10150573541792033_2087485711_n 422254_10150686326357033_2013795738_n

So these have gotten rave reviews that my high school friend El Sid asked me to make one for her and her mom in 2012.  I hope the scarves keep them warm in Chicago Winter…..

The scarves are easy to make simple instructions

Chain 154

DC in the 4th chain from the end to the end of the chain

Link the ends together and DC until you get the width that you want

the first one I made took 1.5 bundles of yarn

For the white scarf I did a shell stitch on the edges to give it a bit of flare…

the multi colored scarf is twisted twice before I linked the chains and started my double crotchet

For my Crochet Divas have you made any of these?

If you have please post I would love to see….

I love how quick and simple they are to make.

Stay Warm…Wishing for Spring….

Spring 2013 Color Report

Pedestrians walk through snow storm in Chicago

It is about this time of year I am ready for spring to come.. well not really I have bad seasonal allergies and spring is the worse for me but I get tired of cold and snow. The Picture above is from Chicago not Baltimore.

Now those of yall who know me know I was born and raised in the GREAT CITY OF CHICAGO, but I currently live in Baltimore, MD.  It does not get he snow fall that Chicago does, nor does it get the cold, but we just had a weather event, i.e. snow, here in Baltimore and it got cold like I was back in Chicago.  So of course i am wising for warmer weather and Spring…

I started looking for what the Pantone Spring 2013 color report… humm just like snow and cold not feeling these colors… but i am not a big yellow and green person….

I see a few colors I need in my life, like African Violet, Nectarine and Poppy Red….. the rest are just eh to me.  Maybe I can work in the two blue colors of Monaco Blue and Dusk Blue.

I will be back with some pieces to add to my current wardrobe this spring and summer.

What colors are you planning to add this Spring to your wardrobe?
